This is a mode of community level intervention where we directly engage with the community on the ground through innovative forms of communication and interaction in a manner that helps the target audience relate to the issues on a personal level.
Nirman Foundation staged two street plays in different Gram Panchayats across 6 districts of the state of West Bengal as part of an awareness campaign on Climate crisis, Environmental Pollution and Early marriage. The campaign was conducted over a span of two months during December 2020 and January 2021, reaching out to over thirty thousand people, whilst following all the COVID-related safety precautions responsibly. People gathered in huge numbers in the various communities we performed in and responded positively.
In the year 2019, Nirman Foundation celebrated Menstruation Hygiene Day on 28th May at Dakshinapan Shopping Complex, Open air Space, Kolkata. This was a one-of-a-kind event with panel discussions and performances raising awareness on issues around menstrual hygiene. The intention was to create an open platform to engage public in dialogue and to evoke awareness generation on Menstrual hygiene Issues. This was an interactive experience with triggering of public conversations on MHM inspired by the performances in theatre and poetry and several attendees who gathered openly wrote their thoughts on a white canvas for posterity.
